Aguilar de la Frontera and Montilla Hospital to have permanent emergency route

Authorities have reached a consensus to establish a permanent passage for emergency vehicles between Aguilar de la Frontera and the Hospital de Montilla. This measure addresses concerns regarding the closure of a section of the N-331 highway due to construction works related to the Algeciras-Zaragoza Railway Corridor.

The closure, which affects the stretch between kilometers 49+200 and 49+800, was implemented on September 7 due to works executed by ADIF on an overpass. Local health advocacy groups had warned that the closure could increase travel times between Aguilar de la Frontera and the hospital from approximately 15 minutes to 45 minutes via alternative routes.

The decision was finalized during a coordination meeting at the Government Sub-delegation in Córdoba, involving representatives from the central government, the Aguilar de la Frontera mayor's office, the Junta de Andalucía's health department, and the Montilla city council. The roadworks are currently projected to continue until March 2027.
