Şahinbey Municipality has signed a cooperation protocol with the Gaziantep Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry to provide agricultural support to local farmers. Under the coordination of the Gaziantep Governor's Office, the initiative aims to boost regional production and efficiency.

The protocol involves the distribution of 1.8 million kilograms of certified seeds and 2 million kilograms of fertilizer to farmers registered in the Farmer Registration System (ÇKS). The total cost of the program is 100 million lira, with Şahinbey Municipality covering 50 percent of the expenses.

Mayor Mehmet Tahmazoğlu reported that over the past eight years, the municipality has provided more than 21 million kilograms of certified seed and 23 million kilograms of fertilizer. These efforts have contributed to a 300 percent increase in cultivated land in the district, rising from 80,000 to 320,000 decares, and doubling the number of local farmers from 4,500 to 9,500.
