Ahmad Zahid Hamidi mandates Melaka political cooperation talks

Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has mandated the Melaka Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh, to conduct negotiations regarding political cooperation for the upcoming Melaka state election. Zahid emphasized that any political alliances must weigh benefits against potential drawbacks to ensure the best outcomes for the people and the state, noting that negotiations should be conducted with honesty and integrity.

Zahid stated that the results of these local negotiations will be brought to the national level for finalization. He highlighted that the cooperation between Barisan Nasional (BN) and Pakatan Harapan (PH) is currently functioning smoothly at the national level through a 'whole of government' approach to maintain political stability.

Separately, political analysts and Barisan Nasional Secretary-General Zambry Abdul Kadir have noted that recent state elections in Johor and Negeri Sembilan indicate a shifting political landscape in Malaysia. Discussions suggest that voters are becoming increasingly strategic, moving away from traditional political patterns and making decisions based on specific candidates, issues, and stability.
