Ahmadi man and son injured in Sargodha shooting

A father and son from the Ahmadiyya community were injured in a targeted shooting in the Sargodha district of Punjab, Pakistan. On September 19, 2026, Malik Mahmood Mubarak, 70, and his son Ayaz Mubarak, 40, were traveling home in a vehicle when unidentified assailants on a motorcycle opened fire on them near Khayaban-e-Sadiq.

Both victims survived the attack but sustained serious injuries requiring transfer to a hospital in Lahore. A first information report (FIR) was registered at the Sajid Shaheed police station under the Pakistan Penal Code. The attackers fled the scene on an unregistered motorcycle.

The Voice of Pakistan Minority (VOPM) expressed deep concern over the incident, citing a pattern of rising violence and intimidation against the Ahmadiyya community. This attack follows the killing of Mirza Safdar Mahmood, 65, who was shot dead in Mandi Bahauddin on September 2. Rights organizations are calling for increased protection for religious minorities and greater accountability for those targeting the community.
