Overview
Violence against the Ahmadiyya community in Pakistan’s Punjab province has been reported through September 2026.
On September 2, Mirza Safdar was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Mandi Bahauddin after closing his workshop. His family suggested the killing was a targeted attack motivated by religious hatred. Police registered a case under the Anti-Terrorism Act to investigate the motive.
On September 19, a second incident occurred in the Sargodha district, where Malik Mahmood Mubarak, 70, and his son Ayaz Mubarak, 40, were injured in a shooting while traveling in a vehicle. The attackers fled on an unregistered motorcycle. The Voice of Pakistan Minority (VOPM) noted this incident as part of a “pattern of rising violence and intimidation against the Ahmadiyya community.”
