Ahmadu Musa Kida declines third term as NBBF sets election dates
Ahmadu Musa Kida, President of the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF), has announced he will not seek a third term in office. Making the declaration during an Extraordinary Congress in Yola, Adamawa State, Kida addressed speculation regarding his ambitions, stating, “I have never been part of subverting the NBBF approved constitution.”
Kida committed to facilitating a transparent transition to the next executive board for the 2026–2030 cycle. He urged prospective candidates to campaign with “honour and dignity” and to avoid defamatory conduct.
The Congress established an electoral timetable for the upcoming elections in Abuja. Between October 7 and 14, 2026, elections will be held for technical, players, and affiliate body representative seats. The main Elective Congress is scheduled for October 15, 2026, at 10:00 AM, to elect the new NBBF Executive Board.
A seven-member Electoral Committee, led by Dr. Lanre Glover and with Barr. Ichene Kalu serving as Secretary, has been appointed to oversee the process.
