Ahmed Ali Abdullah Saleh calls for new Yemeni national alliance

Ahmed Ali Abdullah Saleh, son of the late former Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh, has called for the formation of a broad national alliance to restore the state and the republican system in Yemen. In a message marking the 44th anniversary of the founding of the General People's Congress, Saleh urged various political, military, and social forces to unite against the Houthi militia.

Saleh emphasized that the primary goal must be ending the Houthi coup and reclaiming national sovereignty, prioritizing these objectives over existing political disputes. He advocated for rebuilding the armed forces and security agencies based on a national doctrine of loyalty to the constitution and the republic rather than specific individuals or narrow interests.

Furthermore, Saleh criticized the current state of national decision-making, suggesting it is too influenced by external regional and international calculations. He called on the Presidential Leadership Council and the government to move from “crisis management to solution making,” urging them to address domestic issues such as currency depreciation, service failures, and delayed salaries.
