On 25 July 2026 Rashad Al‑Alimi warned the Houthi Ansar Allah movement to halt escalations that would harm Yemenis and serve Iranian interests, citing a recent Red‑Sea incident that lightly damaged a Saudi vessel. Three days later the Consultative and Reconciliation Council condemned terrorist attacks on Saudi Arabia and Gulf states attributed to Houthi militias and Iranian‑linked groups, reaffirming support for the Presidential Leadership Council, the national defense council, and the Arab coalition’s effort to protect maritime routes. On 6 August 2026 the government mobilised resources for wounded soldiers and families of those killed in Houthi strikes on military sites in Hadramout, Marib and Shabwah. President Rashad Al‑Alimi convened an emergency National Defense Council meeting that reviewed missile and drone attacks on military installations, sovereign facilities, civilian homes and displaced‑people camps, causing civilian casualties, including women and children. The council pledged medical care, resumed salaries in conflict‑affected areas, and reiterated its commitment to restore state institutions, end the Iranian‑backed insurgency and safeguard regional navigation while maintaining the highest level of military readiness. On 7 August 2026 Yemen’s foreign minister, Dr Afrah al‑Zouba, met UN Special Envoy Hans Grundberg and sent a letter to the UN Secretary‑General urging stricter enforcement of sanctions (UN resolutions 2140 and 2216) and measures to block Iranian support after the latest missile and suicide‑drone attacks that killed 17 soldiers, one officer and civilian victims in Marib camps and injured civilians in Saudi Arabia’s Najran region, threatening Red‑Sea and Gulf of Aden shipping.
