Ahmedabad hosts World Archery Para Series 2026

The World Archery Para Series 2026 has commenced in Ahmedabad, India, at the Sabarmati Riverfront. The international competition, running from September 5 to 9, features 108 para-archers representing 19 different countries.

Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the event via video conferencing. During his address, Shah emphasized that India’s sporting goal is to build a comprehensive ecosystem rather than focusing solely on medal counts. He highlighted ambitions for India to become a global hub for sports engineering, medical science for sports injuries, and equipment manufacturing.

The tournament is organized by the Archery Association of India with support from the Gujarat government and various sports authorities. Participating nations include China, Great Britain, France, Germany, the United States, and several others. India is fielding a 29-member squad, including prominent athletes such as Paralympic champion Harvinder Singh and Sheetal Devi.

Local officials noted that Ahmedabad is increasingly becoming a major venue for international sports, with the state aiming to host future major events like the 2030 Commonwealth Games.
