Ahmet Davutoğlu Announces Closure of Gelecek Party and Exit from Politics

Former Turkish prime minister Ahmet Davutoğlu, now leader of the Gelecek Party, declared that he will close the party and withdraw from the political arena. He said he will continue his work in academia, culture, science and diplomacy.

Former Speaker of the Grand National Assembly Bülent Arınç responded on social media, praising Davutoğlu’s past service and stating that he should have remained within the AK Party. Arınç recalled their years of collaboration in government and expressed personal respect for Davutoğlu’s contributions.
