Overview

Former Turkish prime minister Ahmet Davutoğlu announced the dissolution of the Gelecek Party, which he founded in 2019. On August 22, 2026, the Gelecek Partisi officially dissolved following a vote at its headquarters. Out of 180 delegates, 164 voted in favor of ending the party's political activities, while 16 voted to continue. The dissolution followed a July 29 manifesto titled “For the Turkey of Tomorrow,” which cited a deadlock in the political system. The party maintained that the closure was conducted with the same “sincerity and collective will” used during its founding.

DEVA Party leader Ali Babacan responded to the dissolution by expressing respect for the decision, stating that the Gelecek Partisi's struggle for democracy, the rule of law, and political ethics will be remembered with appreciation.
