Ahmet Davutoğlu Gelecek Party dissolution New Way Group Turkish Parliament

Former prime minister and foreign minister Ahmet Davutoğlu announced that the Gelecek Party will be dissolved and its political activities will cease. He said the decision was “not a surrender but a moral distance” taken to avoid being part of a polluted political climate. The party, founded on 12 December 2019, entered parliament in the 2023 elections as part of the Millet Alliance and held four seats at the time of its closing.

Davutoğlu said the move followed extensive internal consultations and that the party’s four MPs would continue as independent legislators within the New Way Group in the Grand National Assembly, without joining any other party. He added that the party would remain active in public debate on education, science, culture, economy and foreign policy outside a party structure.
