Ahmet Özer discusses meeting with Devlet Bahçeli

Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer has shared details regarding a meeting with MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli. During the discussion, Bahçeli reportedly expressed opposition to the removal of parliamentary immunity for CHP leader Özgür Özel and certain other members of parliament. Bahçeli also indicated that he does not support the 'nullity' decision regarding the CHP convention, viewing the issue as a systemic problem within Turkey’s political party structure rather than a conflict specific to the CHP.

Addressing recent political developments, Özer stated that he received informal, non-serious suggestions to join the AKP prior to his arrest, which he dismissed. He emphasized the necessity of justice and the rule of law as the fundamental pillars of society. Furthermore, Özer warned that the frequent movement of mayors and members of parliament between political parties could erode public trust in the electoral system and damage democratic processes.
