AHMSA and Minosa assets scheduled for auction on September 25
The auction of assets belonging to Altos Hornos de México (AHMSA) and Minera del Norte (Minosa) is scheduled for September 25 in Mexico City. To ensure the industrial complex is reactivated, the assets will be sold as a single productive unit. The minimum legal bid has been set at approximately 1,127 million USD, which represents about 85% of the estimated commercial value of 1,326 million USD. The winning bidder will be required to submit an industrial reactivation plan within five months of the sale.
Coahuila Governor Manolo Jiménez Salinas has called for extraordinary federal support to facilitate the company's recovery and mitigate the economic and social crisis affecting the Monclova and Carbonífera regions. The Governor stated that he has discussed the matter with President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo and expects the Ministry of Finance to define a clear path for the rescue and reactivation process. Meanwhile, workers and civil society groups are organizing a large-scale mobilization in Monclova for September 19 to demand government action.
