Ahsoka season 2 to feature a new version of the Empire

The second season of the Star Wars series Ahsoka is scheduled for release on Disney+ in January 2027. Creator Dave Filoni has indicated that the upcoming season will feature a version of the Empire that differs significantly from the one previously established during the Palpatine era.

Filoni described the new iteration of the Empire as having ‘strange things going on,’ suggesting a shift toward a more mysterious and less conventional structure under the leadership of Grand Admiral Thrawn. The narrative is expected to lean heavily into the mystical elements of the franchise, specifically confirming the involvement of the Mortis Gods.

This direction follows the conclusion of the first season, which saw Thrawn return to the main galaxy and introduced themes involving the Force and the legacy of characters like Anakin Skywalker.
