AI adoption grows in Hungary through customer service and healthcare

A recent survey by Cofidis and NRC reveals significant consumer frustration with traditional customer service in Hungary, particularly regarding long wait times and complex automated menus. One-third of respondents reported switching service providers due to poor administrative experiences. While mobile applications are preferred for speed and convenience, personal in-person service remains the most trusted method for ensuring results.

In a practical application of automation, a medical clinic in Budapest's 16th district is testing an AI-based digital assistant developed with Telekom. The system, known as Lara, calls patients to confirm upcoming appointments to maximize specialist capacity and reduce missed visits. While the technology aims to streamline logistics, some patients—particularly older individuals—have expressed skepticism or fear of scams, prompting the clinic to issue public clarifications regarding the legitimacy of the calls.
