AI and digital technology integration expands in New Taipei City and Hong Kong schools

Educational authorities in New Taipei City and Hong Kong are advancing the integration of artificial intelligence and digital technology into school environments through specialized initiatives.

In New Taipei City, the Education Department has recognized 88 creative AI applications developed by teachers and administrative staff. These tools, utilizing generative AI such as Gemini and NotebookLM, aim to reduce workloads by assisting with parent-teacher communication, regulatory inquiries, document processing, and lesson design. The department has already established over 700 AI robots to support administrative collaboration and data queries.

In Hong Kong, the inaugural ‘Innovation and Digital Technology Learning Partnership Programme,’ co-organized by the Education Bureau and Cyberport, has concluded its first phase. Ten schools collaborated with eight startups to develop STEAM-related teaching solutions. Notable projects include the use of Virtual Reality (VR) to visualize astronomy concepts and AI-driven smart tea-brewing devices to teach students about food industry automation and AI functionality.
