AI cross-search demand rises as companies seek to bridge data gaps

A growing demand for AI-driven cross-functional data analysis is emerging in the corporate sector. A survey by Sojitz Tech Innovation reveals that 92.8% of respondents in large Japanese companies are interested in using AI to search and analyze both structured numerical data and unstructured document data, such as meeting minutes and chat logs.

Many organizations struggle to translate data into actionable insights. The survey found that 52.3% of participants find it difficult to take next steps even after viewing data, often because they must manually search through past documents to understand the context behind numerical trends.

In response to these challenges, Google has introduced Gemini integration within Google Drive. This feature allows users to perform cross-format searches across PDFs, Word documents, and spreadsheets. Users can use AI to compare different files or extract key points through conversational queries, facilitating a more efficient way to utilize organizational knowledge while maintaining existing security permissions.
