AI-driven satellite disinformation and anti-drone tech fuel Israel‑US‑Iran conflict

Intelligence agencies of Israel, the United States and Iran are now contesting not only on the battlefield but also in space, using artificial intelligence to falsify satellite imagery. An Iranian newspaper recently published a satellite picture claiming to show the destruction of a U.S. radar, which analysts exposed as a year‑old image altered with AI. Iran is reported to use similar techniques to conceal damage from Israeli and American strikes, while the U.S. and Israel employ deceptive decoys and camouflage to mislead Iranian analysts.

At the same time, French defence‑tech startup Alta Ares has raised €50 million to expand its AI‑enabled anti‑drone and anti‑cruise‑missile systems. The company’s interceptors, such as X‑Lock and Black Bird, are being tested in Ukraine and the Middle East, aiming to improve the probability and cost of neutralising hostile drones and missiles. The funding underscores growing demand for advanced, low‑cost defence solutions in the ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and the newly‑escalated war involving Iran.
