AI-driven shake‑up transforms logistics software sector

Trimble is working with Goldman Sachs to explore a sale of its transportation and logistics division, a move cited as evidence that artificial‑intelligence tools are eroding the traditional “moats” of legacy transportation‑management software. Industry observers say AI enables small teams to add features more quickly and cheaply, prompting a shift toward custom software‑as‑a‑service (C‑SaaS) solutions for bulk haulers.

Logistaas has launched Averroes AI, an AI suite embedded directly into its transport‑management system for freight forwarders. The new capabilities automate data extraction from bills of lading and invoices, assess shipment risk, perform compliance checks against company procedures, and provide an AI assistant to guide users through workflows. The company says the suite is now available to its users in more than 80 countries, aiming to improve speed, consistency and operational risk management.

Both developments illustrate how AI is reshaping logistics software, prompting incumbents to reconsider their product strategies while offering carriers and forwarders more specialized, agile tools.
