AI industry sees OpenAI pricing shifts and Nvidia acquisition of Hugging Face

The artificial intelligence sector is experiencing significant shifts in both market competition and corporate strategy. OpenAI has launched its GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna models in direct response to Anthropic’s Claude Opus 5. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman stated the goal is to provide the best performance-to-cost ratio, with the new models reducing the fee per million processed tokens by half. While some developers have adopted GPT-6 Sol for its speed and economy, others note that Claude Opus 5 maintains a performance edge for long-duration autonomous tasks.

Simultaneously, Nvidia is expanding its influence within the AI ecosystem. The company reached an agreement to acquire Hugging Face for $12.93 billion, utilizing approximately $11.9 billion in cash and $1 billion in stock incentives. CEO Jensen Huang described the move as a way to expand AI access for developers globally and strengthen Nvidia’s competitive position. Additionally, Nvidia announced the expansion of its CUDA-Q platform with CUDA-Q Logical to support practical applications in fault-tolerant quantum computing.
