Nvidia expands AI ecosystem and power infrastructure

Overview

In late July 2026, Nvidia deepened its control of the AI value chain through a series of strategic investments and alliances. It signed a $500 billion high-bandwidth memory supply deal with SK Hynix and helped launch the Open Secure AI Alliance to develop open-source AI cybersecurity tools. Two days later, Nvidia disclosed a $5 billion equity stake in Safe Superintelligence (SSI), granting the startup early access to the upcoming Vera Rubin hardware platform. On 8 August, Nvidia announced plans to invest up to $3 billion in Lancium, a Texas-based power infrastructure developer. By 27 August, the company reported record-breaking second-quarter fiscal revenue of $96.2 billion, a 106% increase year-over-year, with the Data Center division generating $89 billion. CEO Jensen Huang noted that AI has reached an “inflection point” where applications are generating tangible economic value. To support this growth, Nvidia announced an $80 billion share repurchase program and a quarterly dividend of $0.25 per share. To address technical bottlenecks, Nvidia introduced NVHBM, a new high-bandwidth memory architecture developed with Annapurna Labs to increase bandwidth by 30% and reduce power consumption by 15%. The company has also begun shipping its Vera Rubin platform and expanded its partnership with Amazon Web Services. To facilitate massive infrastructure expansion, Nvidia has signed letters of intent with six financial institutions to mobilize over $500 billion in funding. Despite strong forward guidance projecting 70% revenue growth for the 2027/2028 fiscal year, CFO Colette Kress warned that supply constraints could persist through 2028. On 2 September, Nvidia confirmed it will acquire the open-source AI platform Hugging Face for approximately $12.93 billion, marking the largest acquisition in the company’s history. In early September, director Mark Stevens executed significant insider selling, disposing of approximately 2.87 million shares worth roughly $646.5 million between 31 August and 4 September.
