AI infrastructure expansion drives policy and industry summits

The rapid expansion of artificial intelligence infrastructure is driving significant development in major tech hubs. In Silicon Valley, San Jose currently hosts 47 data centers, with approximately 34 new projects under review. While Mayor Matt Mahan views these developments as vital for economic growth and has secured agreements for increased energy delivery, local residents and climate groups have raised concerns regarding carbon emissions, water usage, and the strain on the power grid.

To address these challenges, San Jose is hosting the AI Infra Summit 2026 in September to focus on scalability and energy issues. Similarly, the Global Summit AI Vancouver will take place this November at the University of British Columbia. This summit aims to bring together over 800 leaders, researchers, and policymakers to discuss the deployment, governance, and technical challenges of AI, including computing infrastructure and enterprise adoption.
