Vietnam accelerates AI integration in education and technology ecosystems

Vietnam is accelerating its digital transformation by integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) and new technologies into its educational and economic frameworks. At a recent seminar, CMC University and Gia Dinh University discussed the necessity of an ‘AI-Native University’ model, where AI serves as a foundational mindset for curriculum design and administration rather than just a tool.

On a national level, the Ministry of Science and Technology is shifting focus from merely expanding physical infrastructure to building a comprehensive technological ecosystem. This includes developing cloud infrastructure, data centers, and AI platforms to empower government agencies, businesses, and research institutions. Current statistics show Vietnam has 42 commercial data centers and high 4G/5G coverage, but officials emphasize that long-term capacity requires mastering new technologies.

In the education sector, efforts are underway to enhance digital literacy among teachers and students. In provinces like Phu Tho, schools are implementing digital records and using AI tools like ChatGPT and Google Gemini to modernize teaching methods. Additionally, vocational training is expanding to include high-tech fields such as semiconductors, UAVs, and high-speed railways to bridge the gap between academic learning and market demands.
