AI integration impacts journalism and education in Bosnia and Herzegovina
Artificial intelligence is increasingly impacting professional sectors in Bosnia and Herzegovina, specifically within journalism and education.
Damir Šehanović, a member of the Communications Regulatory Agency of BiH, emphasizes that while AI can serve as a useful tool for newsrooms, journalists must maintain professional responsibility and rigorous fact-checking. Speaking following the Paris AI Forum 2024, Šehanović noted the rapid pace of technological change and urged society to actively shape the future of AI rather than passively accepting its consequences.
In the educational sector, AI is already being utilized by students and teachers across the country. The upcoming NetWork 14 conference will feature a panel titled ‘AI in Education’ to discuss how these tools affect learning, knowledge acquisition, and future labor market competencies. Discussions will focus on the distinction between using technology for support versus using it as a shortcut, as well as the growing gap between those who can critically engage with AI and those who cannot.
