AI integration sparks debate in creative arts and journalism
The integration of artificial intelligence into creative and journalistic fields is sparking debate regarding the value of human work. In the creative arts, the global AI image generator market is projected to reach USD 1.08 billion by 2030. However, a Columbia Business School study indicates that 62% of people rate artwork lower when they are informed it was created by AI, despite finding the skill level comparable to human artists.
In the media sector, Entravision has introduced LIA (Latina Inteligencia Artificial), an AI-generated Latina news anchor for its Spanish-language streaming service, AHORA. Entravision states that LIA is intended to deliver real-time data, weather, and election results rather than replace journalists. While the company emphasizes that all content is reviewed by human editors, the move has drawn criticism on social media from those who view the technology as a threat to Latina journalists in the industry.
