AI major reaches record entrance scores in Vietnam admissions

The 2026 university admissions season in Vietnam has seen record-breaking entrance scores for technology-related majors. Artificial Intelligence (AI) reached an absolute maximum score of 100/100 on the composite evaluation scale. Other high-demand fields include Data Science (91.7 points), Integrated Circuit Design (90.5 points), Information Security (88.7 points), and Computer Science (88.5 points).

In contrast, social science programs have seen a downward trend in required scores. Experts note a significant psychological shift among families toward technology sectors, though they warn of potential risks. Due to the rapid evolution of AI and its ability to automate programming tasks, there is concern that the high competition for these roles today may lead to a saturated market by the time students graduate around 2030. Educators emphasize that long-term success will depend more on developing independent thinking and adaptability than simply choosing a trending major.
