Ai Ogura undergoes thumb surgery following training accident

MotoGP rider Ai Ogura underwent surgery on his left thumb in Barcelona following a motocross training accident in Japan. The Trackhouse Aprilia rider suffered a fracture of the first metacarpal bone during a crash near Tokyo.

The procedure was performed by orthopedic surgeon Dr. Xavier Mir, who used a plate to secure the fracture. Due to the injury, Ogura will miss the Grand Prix of Aragon this weekend.

Trackhouse Racing stated that while the team hopes Ogura can return for the Grand Prix of San Marino in Misano from September 11–13, his participation remains uncertain. A medical assessment scheduled for this coming weekend will help determine his rehabilitation plan and potential return to racing.
