AI prostate cancer tool launched in Spain; Mexico adds high‑precision radiotherapy equipment

The University Hospital of Salamanca (CAUSA) has introduced the artificial‑intelligence software QP‑Prostate to assist radiologists in analysing prostate MRI scans. The system automatically segments the gland and highlights suspicious lesions, aiming to speed up diagnosis and reduce observer variability. Dr. Manuela Martín Izquierdo emphasized that the tool supports, rather than replaces, radiologists.

Mexico's National Institute of Cancerology (INCan) has installed a Halcyon linear accelerator and a 4‑D simulation CT scanner, expanding daily patient capacity and shortening radiotherapy sessions. Director Oscar Gerardo Arrieta Rodríguez highlighted the equipment's precision and tissue‑sparing benefits. Since its clinical start in February 2026, the Halcyon has delivered 158 treatments and about 3,000 sessions, while the CT unit, operating since July 2025, has performed 6,148 simulations, supporting inter‑institutional collaboration and improving cancer care nationwide.
