AI technology advances precision in greenhouse and mushroom cultivation

Artificial intelligence is being deployed to optimize greenhouse cultivation and mushroom farming. In the broader horticultural sector, ioCrops is utilizing AI and IoT sensors to help growers understand how new plant varieties respond to irrigation, light, and temperature. By monitoring the root zone—including soil water content and electrical conductivity—AI tools can interpret complex data patterns to help growers adapt irrigation strategies more quickly than traditional experience-based methods allow.

In the specific field of mushroom cultivation, the project MushVision, developed by Zivi Farms, is seeking Dutch growers to test an AI-driven monitoring system. The technology aims to standardize the assessment of mushroom beds by counting mushrooms, measuring size, and estimating weight. Developed by a team based in India specifically for the high-level Dutch market, the system has demonstrated high accuracy in tests, detecting approximately 98% of mushroom caps and maintaining weight estimates within a 1% to 4% margin of error.
