AI technology expands access to legal systems in Singapore and Brazil
Artificial intelligence is beginning to transform access to justice by helping individuals navigate legal procedures without professional representation. In Singapore, generative AI tools have been implemented in Small Claims Tribunals to assist unrepresented parties in formulating and structuring their claims.
Similarly, in Brazil, the National Council of Justice (CNJ) has highlighted an initiative in the district of Anastácio, Mato Grosso do Sul. The project, titled ‘Balcão Juizado IA — O cidadão construindo sua petição inicial’, allows citizens to narrate their demands to an AI system that organizes the information into a formal initial petition for the Special Civil Court.
