AI technology integration in travel and digital services

Artificial intelligence is increasingly being integrated into consumer hardware and software, impacting sectors such as tourism and public services. In the travel industry, AI-powered smart glasses are emerging as tools capable of translating languages, identifying landmarks, and providing real-time information. Companies like Alibaba are testing AI-supported tours in Hangzhou, while Shanghai’s Yuyuan Garden is trialing multilingual translation glasses. Despite growth, analysts from Counterpoint and IDC note that battery life, accuracy, and software ecosystem limitations—particularly for Chinese devices operating outside their domestic market—remain significant hurdles.

In the digital service sector, the messaging platform Zalo has introduced a free AI assistant called ‘Digital Citizen Assistant.’ Built on a large language model developed by Vietnamese engineers, the chatbot provides 24/7 assistance regarding administrative procedures and legal inquiries, such as land regulations, driver's licenses, and marriage registration. With approximately 78.3 million monthly active users, the feature allows Vietnamese smartphone users to access legal and administrative information directly within the app.
