AI technology shifts from chatbots to autonomous agents
The technological landscape is shifting from conversational chatbots to autonomous AI agents capable of planning tasks, using tools, and executing real-world processes. This evolution moves AI beyond simple text generation toward operational utility, where systems can manage complex workflows such as travel planning, invoice management, and technical incident analysis.
In Kazakhstan, the AI & Digital Bridge forum highlighted efforts to integrate artificial intelligence into the national economy and manufacturing sectors. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized that global competitiveness now depends on production efficiency driven by technology rather than just natural resources. To support this, the country is working to develop all five layers of the AI economy, ranging from energy infrastructure and chips to software and services.
Industry experts, including Lee Kai-fu of Sinovation Ventures, noted that true economic impact occurs when AI becomes a tool for livelihood and production rather than just a conversational novelty. Kazakhstan is already seeing growth in its digital sector, with IT service exports exceeding 860 million euros last year.
