AIADMK chief Palaniswami blames Tamil Nadu govt for power cuts and crimes

AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami sharply criticised the newly elected Tamil Nadu government, a coalition of Tamilaga Vetti Kazhagam (TVK) and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) led by Chief Minister C. Vijay. He said the administration’s “superficial and unstable” approach has caused prolonged electricity outages across the state, disrupting households, micro‑small‑medium enterprises and larger industries during the summer peak.

Palaniswami also accused TVK‑DMK leaders of involvement in recent criminal cases, referencing a DMK functionary arrested for sexually harassing a minor girl in Madurai, the hacking‑to‑death of a 17‑year‑old near the Madurai Meenakshi Amman Temple, intimidation of a government employee, and a fatal drowning of a couple in stagnant water at an Omalur railway underpass. He urged immediate, “war‑footing” measures to restore law and order and questioned why CM Vijay had remained silent.

In response, Chief Minister Vijay held a review meeting, directing that cases related to the incidents be promptly registered, investigated and prosecuted.
