AIADMK MLA Disqualification Probe Dropped in Tamil Nadu

Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Speaker JD Prabhakar announced that no disqualification proceedings will be taken against the 21 AIADMK MLAs who voted in favour of the Tavek government, despite the party’s earlier directive to oppose the motion. The decision follows petitions from both the Palaniswami faction and the dissenting legislators, which were examined before the Speaker concluded that the votes were valid and the disqualification requests should be withdrawn.

Four other AIADMK MLAs who resigned – Isakki Supayya, Satya Bama, Maragatham Kumaravel, and Jayakumar – will still face investigation and possible disqualification under separate complaints.

The Speaker’s ruling effectively ends the intra‑party disciplinary dispute and confirms the legitimacy of the Tavek government’s confidence vote in the Assembly.
