AIADMK reunites under Edappadi K. Palaniswami after factional split

Two rival factions of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) in Tamil Nadu—one led by Edappadi K. Palaniswami and the other by S. B. Velumani—held negotiations on 27 June and reached a settlement. Both sides submitted a joint letter to Speaker J. C. D. Prabhakar, requesting Palaniswami to be appointed the party’s legislative group leader and A. Krishnamurthi as whip, while initially seeking Velumani’s appointment to similar posts before his camp withdrew those demands. The agreement also saw the withdrawal of motions to suspend certain party MLAs, effectively re‑uniting the party under Palaniswami’s leadership.

Following the reconciliation, Velumani addressed reporters at Coimbatore Airport, thanking supporters and affirming that AIADMK remains the party’s lifeline. He pledged to strengthen the organization and pursue electoral success without supporting any rival front, emphasizing unity within the party.
