Aida Cruises passengers win court ruling over reduced ship amenities

The Rostock District Court has ruled in favor of a German couple who sought a price reduction following a world cruise with Aida Cruises. The couple, who paid 68,600 euros for the trip on the AIDAdiva, argued that the ship's naturist (FKK) area was significantly smaller and less equipped than advertised at the time of their booking.

According to the court, the passengers booked their trip in February 2024, relying on online deck plans that showed a spacious FKK area featuring a whirlpool, shower, and sun canopy. However, following a ship renovation, the original area was converted into a ‘Skydeck’ reserved exclusively for suite passengers. The general FKK area was relocated to a much smaller space lacking the previously advertised amenities.

The court determined that the passengers were entitled to a five percent reduction in the travel price because the ship's layout no longer met the reasonable expectations established by the original deck plans. The ruling is not yet legally binding.
