Aigeio double homicide: mother and son slain, Italian partner accused

In the Greek town of Aigeio, 54‑year‑old Maria and her 26‑year‑old son Olympios were found dead in their home. Police have arrested the Italian partner of the mother, who is alleged to have carried out the killings.

Neighbour and friend Dimitris, who arrived first at the scene after receiving a call from the Italian, called emergency services and described the victims in the house. He recounted hearing the Italian’s voice saying, “Dimitri, morto,” as he entered and saw the bodies.

Investigators note that Maria had recently decided to separate from the Italian partner and was in the process of selling a property, which may have created a financial motive. The son had returned from Germany to assist his mother amid health concerns. The case is under active investigation by Greek authorities.
