Aigio double homicide: Italian suspect requests release from detention

The defense for a 65-year-old Italian man has filed a request for his release from pretrial detention regarding a double homicide in Longos, Aigio. The suspect, who has maintained his innocence since his arrest in June, is accused of the deaths of 54-year-old Maria and her 26-year-old son, Olympios.

Judicial authorities are currently reviewing the request alongside new technical reports and laboratory findings. The investigation into the circumstances of the deaths remains ongoing. While some initial findings suggested a possible suicide-murder scenario involving the mother, forensic experts, including pathologist Dimitris Galenteris, have noted that the high number of wounds found on the woman's body complicates the suicide theory.

Physical evidence from the scene revealed that the 54-year-old woman sustained numerous knife wounds, while the 26-year-old man suffered six stab wounds and a gunshot wound. The bodies were discovered in their residence, with the son in his bedroom and the mother near the entrance of the same room.
