Aigio double homicide investigation
Overview
Authorities in Loggos, Aigio, are investigating the deaths of 54-year-old Maria and her 26-year-old son, Olympios. Initial theories considered a murder-suicide involving the mother, but forensic evidence has challenged this scenario.
Forensic pathologist Dimitris Galenteris noted that the high number of wounds on the woman, including 34 stab wounds, is “more characteristic of homicide than suicide.” Additionally, the son died from both stab wounds and a gunshot to the head. Investigators have also identified inconsistencies regarding the placement of the firearm and the suspect’s claims of being unaware of the struggle.
The 65-year-old Italian partner of the woman, who is currently in custody, maintains his innocence. His defense has recently filed a request for his release from pretrial detention while judicial authorities review the request alongside new technical reports and laboratory findings.
