AIRCampania bus driver threatened with death in Naples

A driver for AIRCampania was verbally assaulted and threatened with death by an agitated passenger at the Piazza San Francesco terminus in Naples. The OR.S.A. Trasporti TPL Campania union expressed “deep, fraternal and unconditional solidarity” with the driver, praising his “extraordinary lucidity, coolness and professionalism” that prevented the situation from worsening.

The union demanded immediate safety measures for public‑transport staff, including armored driver cabins, permanent police patrols at high‑risk stops, video‑surveillance linked to control centres, anti‑panic buttons and swift bans (Daspo) for violent individuals. Similar concerns were raised after a Trenitalia conductor was violently attacked on a regional train near Aversa, prompting further calls for stronger security presence on trains and buses in Campania.

Both incidents have reignited debate over the protection of transport workers in the region, with unions urging authorities to implement concrete safeguards and improve police response times.
