Air India adds new Boeing 787‑9s and launches Mumbai‑Toronto seasonal service

Air India has introduced brand‑new Boeing 787‑9 Dreamliner aircraft on its Delhi‑Toronto route, replacing older Boeing 777s and offering the airline’s latest cabin product to Canadian passengers. The carrier also announced a seasonal non‑stop Mumbai‑Toronto service that will begin on 25 October 2026, operating three times a week through 26 March 2027. The new flight adds roughly 2,000 seats each week, making Air India the sole carrier with a direct link between the two cities.

The expansion raises overall capacity between India and Canada by about 4,400 seats per month and boosts premium seat capacity to Toronto by 71 %. The Mumbai‑Toronto service will be flown with upgraded Boeing 777‑300ER aircraft featuring First‑Class suites, flat‑bed Business Class seats, Wi‑Fi and other premium amenities. All Toronto‑bound flights are slated to transition to the new 787‑9s by January 2027, delivering a consistent, upgraded passenger experience across Air India’s Canada network.
