Air India Flight 171 survivor urges answers on crash causes
One year after Air India Flight 171 crashed shortly after take‑off from Ahmedabad on 12 June 2025, killing 241 passengers, crew and 19 people on the ground, the sole survivor, Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, continues to struggle with severe psychological and financial distress. He told the Press Association, "People see that I've survived, but they don’t always see the challenges that continue behind closed doors," and called for "honesty, transparency and answers" from investigators.
The preliminary report from India’s Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau indicated a simultaneous cut‑off of fuel to both engines, but the exact cause—whether human error or technical failure—remains unresolved. Families of the victims, including Ramesh, seek clearer information as the investigation proceeds.
