Tirana International Airport records record passenger traffic

Tirana International Airport is experiencing record-breaking passenger traffic. Prime Minister Edi Rama reported that as of August 27, the airport processed 1.717 million passengers during the month. A single-day peak occurred on August 17, with 60,291 passengers and 326 flights recorded.

This follows a strong July, which saw approximately 1.65 million passengers, marking a 28.1% increase compared to the previous year. European aviation organizations have identified Tirana as having the fastest monthly growth among large airports.

In conjunction with this growth, Albania is working toward aligning its national infrastructure with European standards. Plans dictate that the main road network must meet these standards by 2030, with other segments following by 2040. This integration includes improving roads, railways, ports, and airports to ensure safer and more efficient transport of people and goods in line with EU regulations.
