AIRAC and DGRV launch agricultural support project in Dominican Republic

The Association of Rural Savings and Credit Institutions (AIRAC), the German Federation of Cooperatives (DGRV), and Coopcentral have launched the ‘Apoyamos, buen vivir rural’ project in the southern region of the Dominican Republic.

The initiative aims to support small agricultural producers by promoting joint marketing projects, collective purchasing of supplies, shared services, and the development of regional brands. The project operates through four main components: institutional strengthening, financial inclusion, network connection, and fair trade.

Coopcentral will act as a host ally, integrating 16 agricultural and multi-service cooperatives from the provinces of San Juan and Elías Piña into a new local development network. This network will support producers involved in fruit growing, beekeeping, livestock, poultry, and other agricultural derivatives to foster economic and social development.
