airBaltic to suspend several winter routes from Lithuania
Latvian airline airBaltic has announced adjustments to its winter flight schedule in Lithuania, involving the suspension of several routes. The airline will stop flights from Vilnius to Berlin and Dubai, as well as the route from Palanga to Tenerife. Additionally, flight frequencies between Vilnius and Tallinn will be reduced.
An airBaltic representative stated that these changes are part of a regular review of the route network based on demand, seasonality, and market conditions. While some reports have linked the airline to financial pressures, a company spokesperson emphasized that the cancellations are not related to financial difficulties but are intended to align capacity with expected winter travel demand.
Lithuanian Airports noted that the affected destinations will remain accessible through other carriers. For example, Wizz Air is expected to serve the Vilnius-Berlin route, and Flydubai will operate flights to Dubai. airBaltic also plans to launch a new route from Vilnius to Geneva this winter.
