Airbus A330neo deliveries disrupted by quality issue

Airbus reported that deliveries of its A330neo aircraft were nearly halted for several months due to a quality issue involving the aircraft’s horizontal tail plane. The disruption was caused by a tool being left inside an aircraft, which necessitated additional inspections of other planes currently in the production process to ensure safety.

While the manufacturer described the incident as an isolated quality problem rather than a critical safety risk, the required inspections slowed monthly handovers during the summer. Delivery figures reflect this slowdown; after delivering nine A330neos between March and May, Airbus recorded no deliveries for the model in June or July.

Deliveries have since resumed, with Starlux Airlines receiving an A330-900 on August 11. Airbus stated that the root cause has been identified and that the impact on overall production rates remains limited.
