Decommissioned aircraft stuck under bridge in Romania

A decommissioned passenger aircraft became stuck under a railway bridge on the DN1 road near Balotești, Romania, during a nighttime transport operation. The aircraft, an Airbus A310, was being moved from Henri Coandă International Airport in Otopeni to Voluntari, where it was intended to be repurposed as part of a children's playground.

The transport convoy, which included a specialized oversized load vehicle and police escort, was traveling at approximately 10 km/h. Despite the wings being removed to reduce dimensions, the 38-meter-long, 60-ton fuselage could not clear the height of the bridge.

The incident caused traffic disruptions and went viral on social media. Authorities moved the aircraft to a parking area on Strada Gării to allow traffic to flow while technical teams work on adjusting the transport equipment to complete the journey to Voluntari.
