Airline sector expands with new Mexican route and Air Europa profit surge

Mexico’s AIFA launched a new air connection between Tuxtla Gutiérrez and the Felipe Ángeles International Airport, offering five weekly flights at a base fare of 949 pesos. The route is intended to boost tourism, business travel and local commerce in Chiapas by providing an alternative to existing services.

Spanish carrier Air Europa reported a 33% rise in pre‑tax profit for 2025, reaching €154.6 million, and posted a 7.3% increase in revenue to €3.146 billion. The airline outlined an optimistic outlook for 2026, citing strong demand and a new strategic plan that includes fleet expansion, new routes in Europe and Africa, and the creation of an aircraft‑maintenance subsidiary.
