Airtel Nigeria expands retail network to 200,000 customer touchpoints

Airtel Nigeria announced that it has grown its retail footprint to more than 200,000 customer touchpoints and over 4,000 exclusive shops across all 36 states. The expansion, which includes partner stores, neighbourhood agents and channel partners, is intended to bring services such as SIM registration, airtime and data purchases, device sales and support closer to Nigerians and help close the gap with rival operators.

The company now serves about 64.7 million subscribers, representing roughly 34.4 % of the market as the country’s second‑largest telecom operator behind MTN. Alongside the retail push, Airtel has increased its physical network from just over 13,000 sites to nearly 17,200, adding more than 1,500 new base stations in the past year. The telecom sector contributed ₦18.47 trillion to Nigeria’s GDP in 2025, accounting for 8.34 % of the economy.
